A Custom Toile Pattern for a Historic DC Wedding

Washington, D.C.

Historic, cheeky, pastel, elegant

This bride, Jillian, might just be my favorite bride. She came to us with the idea of creating a custom toile using historically significant or relevant pieces of artwork, but adding cheeky little details…which, of course, I LOVED.

We started with George Washington wearing sunglasses, had Lady Liberty in front of the Capitol Building with the bride’s iconic Oscar de la Renta gown on her lap instead of the flag, added in her fiance playing the guitar under a tree, their golden retriever pup, George Washington toasting the completion of the White House with a bottle of Dom Perignon and a glass of champagne, a cupid holding their monogram….but from the back….so it was a naked butt cupid…and a few other small details here and there. Her pattern ended up being a “Where’s Waldo” of toiles.

We used the toile in several different placements throughout her wedding suite….more to come!
